Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you will receive upon booking confirmation or when collecting your vehicle. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance provisions, and your responsibilities during the rental period. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a Vehicle in Strood
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Strood, you must be at least 21 years old, although age requirements may differ based on the vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur additional charges. A valid full driving licence, meeting the minimum holding period specified in your Rental Agreement, is required. You will need to present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment information and a security deposit. Additional conditions may apply as outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Options
- Bookings for Car Hire can be made through our website, via phone, or directly at our Strood office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your reservation. Full payment and any required security deposit are typically collected upon vehicle pickup. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. Ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may incur extra charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle late. You are liable for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or other charges that arise during the rental period, in addition to a processing fee.
Insurance and Liability Information
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You will find full coverage details and excess amounts outlined in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You will be accountable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional insurance applies. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the advance notice provided. For precise information, please check your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Uses in Strood
Prohibited Uses of Vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for illegal activities is strictly prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, or engaging in off-road driving. Transporting hazardous materials, sub-letting the vehicle, or allowing unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is forbidden. Additionally, do not exceed the designated passenger or weight limits, nor drive outside agreed geographical boundaries without prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and fees.

To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Strood is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may result from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to claims for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
